What are our values?
Words like “values”, “mission” and “vision” can sometimes become un-relatable or un-necessarily complicated. Another way to phrase it is “What is God asking us to do to participate in where he is leading?
We pursue the presence and power of God and His Word!
We are a church of the Word and the Spirit!
Come as you are, meet Jesus, leave changed!
Connect with God and others!
Please see the following for details on our beliefs.
The Presence of God
We are passionate worshipers of Jesus who love being in His Presence—it’s the difference maker! As we worship, we expect God to reveal more of Himself and change us. We want to be a Church in “awe” of Jesus! We long for the greatness of God, His nature, His character and His
works to be revealed in the Church and through the Church.
John 4:24, Isaiah 6:1-8, Psalm 27:4, 63:2-4, 95:1-2, Exodus 33:15-16, Acts 2:43
The Kingdom of God
We seek His kingdom first, praying “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!” We expect the realities of heaven to be seen here on earth. Jesus taught and demonstrated kingdom life through signs, wonders and miracles. We want to see God’s character and nature revealed through what we say and do. The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power!
Matthew 6:33, 6:9-10, Mark 16:15-20, Acts 2:22, 3:1-10, 4:29-30, Romans 15:18-19, John 14:12-14, 1 Corinthians 2:1-5, 4:20.
We are a people who love God’s Word and believe that His inspired infallible Word has the power to transform our lives. We are committed to living it out and to obeying it!
2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:105, 1 Samuel 15:22, John 14:15,21,23, Acts 20:32.
The Holy spirit
We pursue knowing the Person of the Holy Spirit and His ways. He is our power, our counselor and the revealer of the ways and secrets of God. The more we obey Him, the more we receive of Him.
John 14:16-17, 26, 16:13-15, Acts 1:8,2:1-4, 5:32, 10:38, Ephesians 5:18.
We pray like everything depends on God. Fasting and prayer are a way of life for us. We endeavor to pray Habakkuk 3:2 and Ephesians 1:17-19 prayers every day.
Habakkuk 3:2, Ephesians 1:17-19, Acts 12:5, Matthew 6:16-18, Acts 13:3, Luke 5:34-39, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Matthew 21:13.
We are a people of the Great Commission; lost people matter to God and so they matter to us. We are always looking for the one who needs to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord! Found people find people. God will bless our church in proportion to how we give to missions and care for the poor and those in need. We will show our love for others in word and deed.
Matthew 28:18-20, John 1:41, Acts 1:8, Matthew 4:19, Luke 19:10, Romans 15:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:8-9, Revelation 20:15.
We demonstrate our love for God by loving and accepting one another through words and acts of kindness, no strings attached. We are about helping everyone connect with God in a life changing relationship, encouraging everyone to use their God-given gifts and abilities fully. God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things for His kingdom.
Matthew 22:39-40, 1 John 3:16-18, Acts 2:44-47, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 1 Peter 4:10, Acts 20:24, Philippians 2:2-5, Psalm 133.
We love being generous and know it is more blessed to give than to receive. It is an honor to sacrifice for Christ and His Church. God blazed the pathway of generosity in sending Jesus into this world, and we follow His lead by having a big heart and deep pockets to bless others.
John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 8:9, 9:6-15, Malachi 3:8-10, Philippians 4:15-19.
We are owners, not merely members, of Island Church. Members have rights; owners have responsibilities. We serve God by serving others, and if problems arise, we will be part of the solution. We are a family—we’ll have fun together. We are a team–no one person can accomplish all that God has for us as a Church. Together we can achieve amazing things for God and impact a community, a city and nations. We always give God our best and expect others to do so too.
Philippians 1:5-6, Ephesians 5:21, Philippians 2:3, Colossians 3:12-17.
