WAR ZONE at Osmania University: 30 students, 10 policemen
injured yesterday in violent clases during rally to protest delay of division
of state.
3 more people commit suicide by dousing themselves with
kerosene and setting ablaze. This greets us as today's headlines in India.
[Oops. Nicole just phoned and we have to pass or detour
around this University on the way to our meetings today -- More prayers!]
The bandh is on again today -- school cancelled and much
else. But we are continuing on with our meetings with a village pastor's
bible study
for 20 pastors and wives, consulting meeting with a writer
friend, and encouraging a pastor's family who is launching several new
ministries to
the slums, widows, and orphans in Hyderabad. We appreciate
your prayers for our safety on the roads; and wisdom as we choose our words
and try to disciple and communicate God's Word to these eager learners
-- in a culture so very different from ours.
I am so blessed today by your notes of encouragement,
prayers, and support. Thanks, Friends.
Yours and God's love sustains me.

ps. during my last trip to India, my sister in law Jan
went home to be with Jesus.
yesterday my aunt luetta (my daddy's older sister) went
home to be with Jesus. She was 91 and lived in Chico, Calif.
i fully expect my brother in law Jim Whatley (Jan's husband)
will be gone before i get home. He is in intensive care
in the VA Hospital in Seattle. Pray for Bob and Jim's
children: Jeanie and Jim. Pray for me to. It is sad that I am not
there for them at this time -- but my times are in God's
hand.
