OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – December
8, 2008
(Please see the attached promised
photo of the little lost boy and his mother from our last email. If
you didn’t get that email, let us know—you’ll want to hear what God
did!)
PRAISE God for a good time of evangelism
in Banzon and three surrounding villages. Many people turned out
each night, and in the village of Banzon, 10 adults and several youth and
children made decisions to follow Christ! The other three villages
are made up primarily of the Toussian people group, and in the Kenedougou
region, this people group has been more resistant to the gospel. Only
one man in these villages made a decision to follow Jesus, but we PRAY
that all those who heard the gospel will continue to think about what they
have heard and will one day soon choose to put their hope in Christ. PRAY
that the Holy Spirit would work in the hearts of the Toussian people, that
there would be a movement among them to follow Jesus.
Please PRAY for the man who came
forward during the evangelism in the Toussian village of Seinzon. He
has a major health issue, most likely a problem with his liver, and his
stomach looks like one of a pregnant woman in her ninth month. What
a testimony this would be if God miraculously healed him! Please
PRAY for healing and that he would grow in his new faith.
Please PRAY for Kevin and Toby
as they head to Samorogouan this Friday-Sunday to hold the evangelism seminar
for the believers there, along with evangelism in that village two of those
nights. Please PRAY for the Samorogouan believers, that they will
develop a passion for sharing Jesus with those who are lost. PRAY
for those who come to the evangelism in the evenings, that they will understand
clearly God’s love for them and desire to put their faith in Christ.
There are many needs in this culture,
and very often, we are come to for many requests for help. As we
are building relationships in the Kenedougou region, we have expected that
this would naturally increase. It has done so, especially within
the past few months. With our upcoming return to the US in May, we
are starting to really get hit hard with these requests, some ministry
related and some personal. Please PRAY that we would have wisdom
in knowing how to respond to each situation and that God would clearly
show us what He would have us do. Please PRAY that we would have
compassion and keep good attitudes—it is not an easy task to face so many
demands, especially when a lot of the time we are not able to do what people
would like us to.
Please PRAY for safety as we are
digging a well in our courtyard. PRAY that the work would go smoothly
and for God’s protection over the workers and everyone else in our courtyard.
Although our kids have been given strict boundaries, this mother
will be a bit nervous until that well is sealed! (I probably need
the most prayer!) :O)
