OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – October
5, 2008
This Praise N Pray will cover the
next month—we’ll write again on Nov 3rd! (see below)
Thank you for praying for the meeting
in Ndorola. The evangelism season schedule is planned, kicking off
in November and running through March. Please PRAY that God will
be working even now in the hearts of those in the Kenedougou region who
will hear the good news this year! PRAY that He will reap a great
harvest and that many will find freedom in Christ.
Please continue to PRAY for Pastor
Marcel. The district had wanted to bring him in to Bobo, but he is
so weak that Kevin thinks he wouldn’t even survive the trip in. Please
PRAY for his wife, Suzanne, as she is in desperate need of encouragement
these days. Marcel’s faith is strong—pray that God will continue
to use him for His glory for whatever ordained days he has left on this
earth. We’re still praying for a miracle, but praying most of all
that God will be glorified no matter the outcome.
Thank you for praying for the very
difficult situation in the Ndorola church with the two married men who
were “pursuing” a woman just kicked out of her home by her drunk husband.
The men have repented and have returned to church. Please PRAY
that the testimony of all of our believers in the Kenedougou region would
be strong, that they would “turn from evil and do good, that they would
seek peace and pursue it.”
PRAISE God for a good Sunday in
Samorogouan. We are also PRAISING God for His protection—on the
way home, just as we were entering Bobo, a moto that we were passing shot
up a rock (or something!) and the passenger side window in our car next
to me shattered into a million pieces. Fortunately, it didn’t bust
out until about 30 seconds later. HOWEVER, we need this window fixed
by Saturday, for a very important reason—please PRAY that our mechanic
will be able to find a replacement soon.
PRAISE God for a two week vacation
that we’ll be taking on the coast of Ghana! We desperately need
a break, and it’s coming! We will leave on Sunday the 12th
and return home on Sunday the 26th. We plan on staying
on the coast the entire time, with a day trip to Accra for Frankie’s cheeseburgers
and pizza! :O) (A great restaurant that serves “American type”
food! YUM!) Please PRAY for a great time together as a family
and that we will returned refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to serve with
joy in our hearts.
On our return home, we will be
bringing Tim and Susie Allen with us, our Burkina field pastoral couple
from Pennsylvania. They will be in Burkina for a few weeks—please
PRAY for safety and good health in their travels, that their time with
us all would be mutually encouraging, and that God would knit our hearts
together as we spend time with one another.
Kevin and a delegation from Bobo
and Samorogouan are hoping to finish up all the paperwork and final payment
for the Samorogouan property this Wednesday. Please PRAY that the
authorities who need to be present for this to take place will be there
and that everything will go smoothly without any problems.
