OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – July 14,
2008
PRAISE God for a good trip to Banzon. The dedication of
the pastor’s home was a big celebration—they stayed up all night singing and
dancing! The money for this house was given from excess funds raised for our
airline tickets home for Kevin’s dad’s passing. The pastor was very touched by
this and explained to all those gathered for the dedication service that he’s
going to paint “Samuel” over the door frame of his house in honor of Kevin’s
dad. This was very touching for us, and we continue to PRAISE God for how He is
able to work the difficult things in life for good.
Please continue to PRAY for Pastor Marcel. The doctors
have run their tests and have told him that they can do nothing more for him,
that he is “in the hands of God”. From what we can gather, we believe that he
has cancer that is spreading in his body. This has been quite a blow to all of
us as we have received this news. Please PRAY for a miracle of healing to take
place, and most importantly, that no matter the outcome of this situation, that
God’s name would be glorified. Pastor Marcel wants to return to Sirasso to be
with his wife and children, so Kevin will be taking him out on Wednesday.
Please PRAY for Simeon and Tabitha, who just lost their
20 year old son last night to an illness. (We’re not quite sure which illness,
as we’re getting different reports.) Simeon is the mason who built the pastor’s
house in Ndorola, and Tabitha serves on the National Alliance Women’s committee
(as well as sews all of my African dresses and has a ministry to teenage girls,
teaching them how to sew and often winning them to Christ.) Their son’s death
was very sudden—we do, however, praise God that he was a believer and is in
heaven today. Please PRAY for comfort and peace for Simeon, Tabitha, and their
other children.
Please continue to PRAY for the youth team coming from
