Dear WIN India prayer warriors -

Work goes on in India. Hard to believe we've been home 2 months and we're just now getting back to you. Our hearts, prayers, and your investments in the India projects keep the various ministries alive and well.

Our India friends miss us.  There are frequent emails and phone calls from India keeping us apprised of the activities and needs of the orphans, slum children, village pastors, evangelists, and churches.

Below is today's prayer letter from my niece: Nicole, who keeps an eye on our friends, gets our US money changed to rupees, and supports and checks on the ministries when we're not in India. Please join us in prayer for all the concerns she mentions.

Yes, we hope to go back, Lord willing. planned dates are:

Jan 21-Feb 11, 2009,
4th Missions Trip to
India
Do you want to go with us?

A more detailed report of the WIN INDIA projects is on my drawing board and will be coming soon.

Love and prayers,
Elaine

(From Nicole)...

Hi friends,

Here's an update on my life these days. I would really appreciate your prayers!

*We still need prayer for a new home for the orphans. It seemed like we had found the perfect place (though a bit costly). However when the landlord's wife heard her husband had agreed to rent it for a children's home, she was not happy. Despite being a godly woman and a family friend, she said no. We need a miracle from God. We are running out of time since the children need to enroll in  a school near their new home before the Indian school year begins.

*Next week I will be teaching two days of a six day seminar for the staff of a large orphanage. I will be training the staff in how to deal with the children's problems, especially ADHD, bullying, depression, abuse, and rebellion. I am concerned about getting my message across due to language barriers. Please pray that I will be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

*Next week I am organizing and sponsoring a two-day seminar for rural pastors to be trained in basic biblical counseling. (I am not teaching this course as I felt my Indian coworkers would be more effective.) These barely literate pastors are constantly called upon to handle issues such as family problems, suicide, alcoholism, and abuse. Please pray for this seminar to inform, help, and bless them.

*Helen, who shares my apartment, will be returning to England at the end of June. Please pray for God to provide another apartment-mate. Keeping roommates in India has turned out to be a real challenge--the locals get married and the foreigners go home!

*Summer plans: I will be leaving India in May and returning in August. It's a nice long break and I really need it. While in Colorado I will be finishing the requirements for an India counseling license, which is important to my credibility in India. I am hoping to volunteer at a children's counseling program so I can get more training in child therapy. This would help me a lot in my work here. I have leads, but won't know for sure till I get there. Please pray for a good opportunity to come together.  I look forward to seeing many of you when I am home!

thanks and blessings,
Nicole

Photo: I attended the Good Friday service at this village church, but got soaked when a rainstorm poured in through the unfinished windows. Thanks to a generous donor, the windows will be finished by the rainy season.  [THIS IS OUR OLIVE HOUSE OF WORSHIP -- THAT WIN INDIA HELPED BUILD AND VISITED ON OUR LAST TRIP.]
