OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – March 24,
2008
PRAISE God for a good Easter Sunday! Kevin showed a
part of the Jesus film during his message, and at that point we had 50 people
crowded into the tiny building where we meet. It was an excellent reminder of
the gift of salvation that we have received, as well as the hope we have in the
resurrection of Christ. We ate rice and sauce together as a church, and then
our policeman friend and his wife had us over to eat a bit more (noodles and
chicken). On the way home, we stopped by and celebrated Easter with our “newly
returned to Burkina” Mennonite missionary friends, Paul and Lois Theissen, and
their daughter, Sarah. They’ve been gone for almost 2 years and just happen to
live on the road we travel on to go to Samorogouan! It was special for us to be
able to spend part of our Easter day with them, as well.
PRAISE God that the Samagan church roof went on smoothly
with no injuries! Thanks for praying!
Kevin and our colleague, Andrew Schaeffer, will be
traveling to Ouaga on Friday for field leadership team meetings. Please PRAY
for safety in travel and for the FLT as they meet and plan together. PRAY that
God will continue to give them guidance as they seek to follow His plan for our
missionary work in Burkina. Kevin hopes to return on
Sunday.
Please PRAY for the Ndorola church construction. We
would love to start building there, but the church people are having a hard time
coming together for the part that they need to do to prepare for the building to
begin. Please PRAY that they will find the time to do so and that they will be
motivated to be active participants in the building
project.
Please PRAY that the well in Ndorola will be able to be
dug deeper with no problems. Please also PRAY that we will find water on the
Samorogouan property—we hope to be digging a well here soon, so that we can
start the building of the pastor’s house. We’ve heard that the church district
we work with might be sending a pastor here this May or June! Please PRAY that
pastors will continue to be appointed to the Kenedougou
region.
Thank you for praying for Bonnie as she has been working
on catching up in the bookkeeping! February’s books are done, and her goal is
to turn March’s books in on time (April 10th) and be caught up!
Please PRAY to that end.
