OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – February 17, 2008

PRAISE God for a good return trip to Burkina.  We were able to check our luggage all the way through, which made our trip much easier!  The kids traveled well, and our long layover in Casablanca helped us catch up on some sleep at the hotel they put us up at.  All of our luggage arrived in Ouaga, with only one bottle of broken (or should I say “exploded”) ketchup!

Please PRAY for us as we have returned to a lot of work to do.  PRAY as the kids start school again on Monday (18th) and as Bonnie has much catch up to do on the bookkeeping.  We have arrived to a very dry and dusty season in Burkina and are starting to struggle with our annual respiratory problems due to that.  Please PRAY for extra strength and energy, and for good health during this difficult time of year.  (The Harmattan winds are blowing the desert sand down from the North—think of overcast skies that aren’t overcast from clouds, but from dust!)

Please PRAY for Pastor Samuel and Elizabeth from Ndorola.  We received the very sad news that their baby girl, Joanna, passed away just over a week ago.  She was around 9 months old, I believe.  The clinic in Ndorola didn’t have the right medicines for her, and she died before they were able to make it to Bobo.  They have three older children—please PRAY that God will wrap His loving arms around this family and give them comfort and peace during these difficult days.

Please PRAY for Kevin as he makes a trip to Sirasso this Tuesday and Wednesday.  He will be roofing the church building with the group of believers there—PRAISE God this building is almost done!  Please PRAY as we make plans to start construction of the church building in Ndorola within the next couple of weeks.

Please continue to PRAY for the evangelism taking place these months, as we use this time when people are not out working in their fields to concentrate on evangelism campaigns.  The response so far has been tremendous—please PRAY that these new believers will grow in their faith and become actively involved in the church closest to them.  PRAY for the pastors as they follow up, that they will be able to make contact with each person who made a commitment to follow Christ.  Please PRAY against the plans of the enemy to discourage and thwart what is happening.  It is a definite spiritual battle we are facing, and your prayers will make a huge impact.

Our colleagues working with us in the Kenedougou region, Toby and Kiersten Hull, are about to have a baby!  Due date is Feb. 29th—please PRAY for a safe delivery and that the baby will be healthy.
