Hi Prayer Family - We are FINALLY back from our Christmas adventure - and
what an adventure it was! As many of you know, it was our turn to leave
for Christmas. (All the missionary families rotate every-other year - as
church still happens). We went to Johannesburg, South Africa for Christmas
(the BIG city!). We left on the 20 December, drove 11 hours, spent one
night with our friends at the Botswana border, then got up the next morning,
timing our departure perfectly, so we would hit the McDonalds in Rustenburg,
SA at lunch and finish the remaining 5 hour drive to Johannesburg. Our
mouth was watering with thoughts of fillet of fish, spicy chicken sandwiches
and cheese burgers with real pickles on them! We reached our destination
at the Baptist Guest House for missionaries on the 21st. We had booked
3 nights there (as they were full the rest of the time). Then we were moving
to a church on the other side of the city that provided accomodation for
missionaries (FREE). We were having another one of the new missionaries
join us for Christmas as this is her first one here in Botswana and she
is single. Her name is Maureen (Auntie Mo). We carried on with our traditions
of drawing names and everyone getting to open ONE present on Christmas
Eve (always new PJs for everyone). So! Here we are in our new PJs. My family
is full of POSERS! :) What was so great is that the boys had been saving
money and wanted to buy everyone (including Auntie Mo) - a present. AND
they did. It was very sweet.....
More Christmas news in the email number 3......
