OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – December 30, 2007

PRAISE God for a good trip to Ndorola and Samorogouan for Christmas!  I’ll write more in our next newsletter about this adventure, but wanted to initially say thanks for praying.  It went really well!

PRAISE God for a good Sunday in Sirasso today.  The church members brought their grain tithe from the harvest they have collected so far, which was an encouragement for everyone there to see God’s faithfulness in providing for them.  The church building is going up!  It is now built to the level of the top of the windows, and everyone is participating in the work.  Please PRAY that the work will continue to go smoothly.

A teenage boy spent this past week with the believers in Sirasso, “given” to them by his parents (who are not believers, but who are at their wits end) because they no longer know what to do with him.  Besides difficult behavior when he is “normal”, he has also been going into trances and acting out violently to those around him.  There are obvious signs of spiritual oppression in his life, and the church members spent much time in prayer over him.  Two days ago, this young man gave his life to Christ.  Please PRAY that he will find complete freedom from the oppression in his life, and that his life will be changed dramatically.  Please PRAY that God’s power and glory will be evident in this situation, and that his testimony would be strong among his village.  He returned to his own village today, but has been encouraged to come back to attend church and spend more time with the believers in Sirasso.

Please continue to PRAY for Kevin’s dad, mom, and family.  We recently found out that the cancer has spread in his dad’s brain, and it is no longer treatable.  The doctors will also be stopping the chemo that they have been doing for other cancer spots in his body.  This has been very difficult news for all of us, and we would appreciate any prayers for the Oberg family.

Bonnie’s sister, Jennifer, along with her husband, Steve, are currently on their way to Burkina!  They arrive on Jan 2nd and will fly out on the 13th.  Please PRAY for safety in all the traveling we will be doing, and that Jen and Steve will be healthy while they are here.  We are thrilled they are able to come and visit—please PRAY that our time together will be very special.
