OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – December 16, 2007

*Due to travel plans and holiday activities, this Praise N Pray will cover the next 2 weeks.

PRAISE God for a good response to last week’s evangelism in Badala and a village close to it.  About 40 people accepted Christ as their Savior—please PRAY for these new believers to grow in their faith and for Pastor Tychique as he does the crucial follow up.  Please PRAY for Tue-Wed night as Toby helps with evangelism in another village in this area.

We just received word that the dental team we were planning to have come the first week in March to help with a week long medical evangelism campaign has had to cancel their trip due to an injury preventing the dentist from performing extractions.  Although a setback, we know God is in control and has a plan even in this.  Please PRAY that we would be able to find a replacement for this team if this is still in God’s plan to take place this Spring.  Please also PRAY for the dentist and the pain he is in, that God would provide healing for him as well.  He and his wife are actively involved in short term medical trips overseas and are disappointed that they will not be able to come.

Please PRAY for the Frenchman who works on our vehicles.  Due to frequent visits to the shop for the vehicles Kevin oversees, his relationship with him has been growing over the years.  God opened the doors this past week for a good heart-to-heart conversation about his life and spiritual issues.  Please PRAY that God would work in a powerful way in his life, providing him with the answers he is seeking that are only answered in Christ.  (For our Burkina friends receiving this, please keep confidential.  Thanks!)

Due to upcoming travels, you won’t hear from us until after Christmas!  Please pray as our entire family heads to Ndorola on the 23rd to help with two nights of evangelism there.  We’ll be sleeping in the storage unit next to the pastor’s house, which is a much better alternative than a tent due to creepy, crawly snakes who might like to spend Christmas Eve with us!  :o)   Please PRAY that the evangelism will go well and that many people will be drawn to Christ during this holiday season.  The church is really growing, which is very exciting!  On Christmas morning, we’ll leave early to go to spend the day with the believers in Samorogouan.  We are looking forward to worshipping together, watching a film about the birth of Christ, and then enjoying a Christmas meal together followed by more singing and dancing!  It promises to be a joyful occasion.  Please PRAY that we will all stay healthy, and that we will have plenty of energy, as those will be tiring days.  PRAY that our kids will do well on their first Christmas camping trip!  (For those of you who are interested in the family activities, we’ll be celebrating our family Christmas together on the 26th.)

We’ve had a few “rollercoaster” days regarding Kevin’s dad’s health, and we’d appreciate your prayers for him and for the rest of Kevin’s family.  It appears that there is more cancer in his brain, which has caused swelling and a certain amount of “head trauma”.  He was admitted into the ICU last Thursday and is slated to be released from the hospital Monday (17th).  Please PRAY for the doctors as they make decisions about further radiation and treatment, for Kevin’s mom and his family who are stepping in to help out, and that there wouldn’t be any lasting effects mentally.  Please PRAY for us “African Obergs”, especially Kevin, as it is so hard to be away during times like this.
