OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – December 9, 2007

PRAISE God for a great Sunday in Samorogouan!  It is so encouraging to be with this group of believers—they are so excited about getting land and building a pastor’s house that they hope to use as a church building until a pastor arrives.  We enjoy our times of sitting together after church, visiting and eating (today we got fed lunch twice again!).  We’ll be going there next Sunday as well—please PRAY for God to continue to work in the hearts of the believers there, and for safety as we travel on a very bad road and sometimes come within inches of hitting large animals and people on bikes and motos.  (Prayer for our travel and safety is a “running prayer request”—we just like to remind you now and then!  :o)

Please PRAY for Kevin as he is going to be involved with an evangelism campaign Monday-Wednesday, and for Toby as he takes over Thursday night and then next Monday and Tuesday.  The evangelism will take place in Badala and 2 villages close by, about 45 minutes outside of Bobo (our closest church in the Kenedougou region).  Please pray that many people will come to Christ, and for Pastor Tychique as he does follow up.

Please PRAY for Kevin as he heads to Sirasso on Thursday for the day.  He will be taking Simeon, the mason who built the Ndorola pastor’s house, with him so that he can start the church construction in Sirasso.  Please PRAY for Simeon and all those involved in the construction, for safety, and that the work will progress smoothly.  It will take about a month and a half, and we hope to have him start on the Ndorola church as soon as he is done there.

This past week, we had a tragedy take place on our Burkina field.  Shellie Gardlock, a young lady who had come to Burkina just over a month ago to help our Ouaga team for several months on a short term mission trip, suffered some kind of heart trauma and passed away in the home of Lorinda Robinson, one of our missionary colleagues.  Shellie was just a few days shy of her 35th birthday.  Please PRAY for Shellie’s parents—she was their only child, and for Lorinda and the Ouaga team.  Please PRAY that God’s glory will be shown and that the lives of many people will be touched as they hear of Shellie’s faithfulness in serving Jesus.  (Her pastor set up a blog if you’d like to know more specifically how you can pray:  http://www.shieldsgroup.com/blog/?p=170)
