OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – November 18,   2007

PRAISE God for a great Sunday in Samorogouan.  The mayor was actually there today, and so Kevin and a delegation from the church went to visit him after our church service.  He has granted us a piece of land, and now we just need to buy it and pay the taxes.  We hope to begin construction of a pastor’s house and digging a well in January, if all goes well.  PRAY for a pastor to come to this village—we’ll be ready for him!  :o)

PRAISE God for a great meeting for Kevin, Toby, and the pastors and district leaders last Tuesday.  They spent several hours in prayer together, and had an excellent time of planning and strategizing.  They’ve set up the evangelism schedule for the year—starting this week and going through April, there are 24 villages where evangelism will take place in the Kenedougou region.  We are SO thankful that the Hulls have come on board to join us in splitting this task!

Please PRAY this week as Kevin goes to the bush with a well drilling team from “Friends In Action”.  They will be drilling a community well in Sirasso and in Temetemeso, as an outreach to these villages.  Evangelism campaigns will be held in these villages in the evenings.  Please PRAY that many people will be exposed to the gospel through this outreach, that many will respond and choose to follow Christ, that the team will stay healthy in the bush for a week, that water will be found and the work will go smoothly, and that this joint effort of community outreach and evangelism will bear much fruit.

Kevin will be in the bush Tuesday through Sunday night, with a trip home in the middle to be a part of our Thanksgiving Day that we are hosting at our house.  (No, we’re not crazy—originally, the team wasn’t coming until next week, but there was a change in plan.  Flexibility is the key!)  I have lots of help in preparing for our annual tradition of Thanksgiving in Bobo at the Obergs—and this year, we have between 40-50 people coming!  PRAY that Kevin won’t be so exhausted that he can’t enjoy this day, and that it will be a special time for us as we gather together.

Thank you for the encouraging emails and assurances of your prayers as we get through our “third year slump”.  It has helped knowing we have your prayers and support behind us.  God is, indeed, sustaining us and helping us to keep focused on Him.  Please continue to PRAY for us, that we would have tolerance for the things that “bug” us and that we would reflect the joy of the Lord in our attitudes.
