OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – November 5,
2007
PRAISE God for a great trip to Sirasso on Sunday! It
was a joyful time as we celebrated women’s Sunday together—Pastor Marcel’s wife
preached on the theme for the day, “Work for the Night is Coming,” and she did
an excellent job. Afterwards, we all went to the Pastor’s house and had a good
meal of rice and sauce, and just sat around and chatted. I had my first “real
conversation” with Pastor Marcel’s wife—my Jula is finally at a point where I
can do that, which is very encouraging! Kevin made some hilarious bloopers as
he was trying to get his brain back into it. We stopped to see Pastor Samuel
and his family and the believers in Ndorola on the way home—it was so good to
see them as well. The church is growing—since their move to Ndorola, at least
one new person has come to Christ each week. It is SO encouraging to see what
God is doing!
Please PRAY for Kevin as he makes a survey trip this
week with a Christian group who has come to Burkina to dig wells in various
villages. They have chosen two villages in the Kenedougou region, and three
others in a district close by. Please PRAY that their trip will go smoothly,
and that this ministry will have a tremendous impact in the villages where the
wells are placed.
Please PRAY for our trip to Samorogouan this Sunday—this
will be our first opportunity to be there since before Kevin’s trip to the
States, and we are excited to return. Pastor Francois (from Banzon) is going to
be meeting with the mayor this week to discuss getting a piece of land for a
church property. Please PRAY that the meeting will go well, and that we will
receive a good piece of property for a fair price.
Please PRAY for me (Bonnie) as I’ve got a bookkeeping
deadline looming and a very busy week ahead of me. Our Bobo team will also be
meeting two couples this weekend who are interested in coming to Burkina to
serve as missionaries. Please PRAY for clarity and God’s direction for them and
for our field during these days.
Please continue to PRAY for Kevin’s dad and his battle
with cancer. We were hoping to have Kevin’s parents come for the month of
December this year, but the doctor has said it would not be good for him to be
off of the chemo at this point in time. We are now especially thankful that
Kevin was able to go home and spend some time with his parents during his tour
in the States.
