OBERG PRAISE N PRAY – August 27,
2007
PRAISE God for an encouraging field forum with our missionary colleagues
here in Burkina. Tim and Susie Allen (pastor couple from York, PA)
came and were a blessing to us, and we appreciated Tim’s messages on “Encouraging
One Another”. Thank you for praying for our time together—and no
food poisoning this year!
PRAISE God for the installation service held in Ndorola
last Sunday for Pastor Samuel and his wife, Elizabeth. I’ll write more in our
next update, and include a few photos, but wanted to thank you in advance for
praying.
PRAISE God for a good beginning to our Oberg home school
for the year. Please continue to PRAY for us as we settle into a good routine,
and please PRAY that Bonnie will be able to balance her time
well.
PRAISE God that Kevin’s travels to the bush went well
last week. Please PRAY for his trip to Ndorola tomorrow (Tuesday) as he moves
Pastor Samuel and his family to their new home. PRAY that they will be able to
settle quickly into life in Ndorola, and that they will have many opportunities
to share God’s love with their new neighbors.
PRAISE God for 4 new believers in Nimberla! A year ago,
we had two believers in that village, and now we have 7! Pastor Marcel is so
encouraged as he continues to see people coming to Christ in the villages that
he is working in. Please continue to PRAY that people will seek the truth and
find it in Jesus Christ, that they will see His love in the lives of their
friends and neighbors, and that God’s church will continue to grow in
Burkina.
Please PRAY for our new Sunday adventures! Because there is a pastor in Ndorola, we will not be going there most every Sunday as we have during the past two years. We still plan on visiting Ndorola once in a while to encourage Pastor Samuel and the believers there, but starting this Sunday, we will be going to a new village called Samorogouan (Sam-o-ro-gwan). There are three families meeting together for church every Sunday, and we plan on joining them at least two Sundays a month, hoping that as the church grows, one day, there will be a pastor coming to this village. There are several other groups of believers spread out over the Kenedougou region, and we hope to use our other Sundays to go to these groups and encourage them until they can get pastors. It means at least a 2 hour drive to and from church each Sunday, and so please PRAY that God will continue to give us energy, safety on the roads, and that our children will continue to do well on these looong trips to church and back. So far, we have been abundantly blessed with good travelers!
