Hi Family and Partners: I just wanted to thank you so much for taking the time to pray for me this last weekend. I was taking about 8 vitamins a day. Between that and your prayers – I stayed healthy for my concert on Saturday. The Methodist Church where the concert was, has 147 seats. Almost every seat was full, but not quite. There were quite a number of children sitting off to the side – so I believe there were still about 150 people there. I had some pretty serious butterflies before it started. But honestly, I really felt the prayers of God’s people. I asked certain people to commit to praying for me and asked our Bible School students.
I really wanted to be who God created me to be (as goofy as I am)– and minister from that place. I sang about 4 songs that I had never sang in public before. One song that was particularly important for me to sing was the one that I started in 1999 for Charissma. Those of you that are decent in Math, know that is LONG before Charissma ever existed! I was so excited to sing this song and talk about “Waiting on God”. So in 99 I wrote the first verse and chorus. Last week I wrote a second verse. I think of those 15 years that we knew that Charissma was meant to be a part of our lives. Then I think of the 6 ˝ that we actively prayed – I cried – I believed then I prayed some more – cried some more and believed some more! I HAD NO IDEA THAT GOD’S WAITING WAS BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO BRING HER TO US VIA BOTSWANA! We do not fully know God’s plans for us – but we must trust His heart of love for us and trust His hand at work in us. Man! That is awesome!
Charissma was so worth the wait! I am grateful to God.
So, the concert went well. I sang 21 original songs and ministered in between them. It lasted about 1 ˝ hours. My voice never got tired but by the time I got home, I didn’t even want to eat our late supper I just wanted to go to bed. Michael played Congas, the ngalabi (our drum from Uganda), and shakers. Our worship pastor played bass guitar and acoustic guitar. It was great fun. They took up a love offering which was really a blessing to us. I also got donations for 24 CDs. They even put an advert in our Ngami Times newspaper – that was quite funny! The way they word things is different here. The ad said, “The Gospel singer Heather Walker will be performing at the Methodist Church”….! I wish I was a Gospel singer! J anyway – it was sweet. I am grateful to you all. A couple of you sent me really sweet notes telling me you were committing to pray and that means so much to me. One of the pastor’s wives in our church somehow got her hands on my CD from a friend. She came up to me one Women’s meeting at church and said, “Mmamaruiti ( a term of respect for a pastor’s wife), I have to tell you something. I went into my shop the other day and my two employees were on their knees crying with their hands raised up. They were playing your CD”. They said, “We cannot leave this place of worship.”. I just felt so humbled and blessed. We were both in tears. I am grateful to God for the extra-ordinary work He does through us, His ordinary people.
I better go. I really try to let you all you know – when I have urgently presented a request to let you know the outcome. Thank you. The Word of God says, “The prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective”. Thank you to all you righteous folks! J We love you. Will be in touch! Xoxoxoxo
