Hi All - We so appreciate your support and your prayer support. You know that we just share things with you like you are all family. So this email won’t be any different. You may feel my notes are a “little too much information” but we are real people, with a real God and we just have to be real about where we are at. J We are doing well and extremely busy. Michael is especially busy. Please continue to pray that he be led by the Spirit of God with discernment and wisdom as he teaches, preaches, and counsels. We are surrounded by many needs and opportunities to care for people and speak into their lives. Even for THIS people-person, there are times we feel "peopled-out". I am sure there are a few of you that know what that feels like. We are both teaching this term at the Bible School. Michael is teaching "Homiletics" and I am teaching "Praise and Worship". I am not appearing in the office near as much as I did last year. We are very happy about that decision - and it shows with our children. Everyday we are faced with new things and I thank God that I can be home when I need to be home - a choice that we made even while in the US. Having teenagers is a whole new ball game! It is scary, man!
Just yesterday I was crying out to God, saying "Father - I am not smart enough for this job! Help me respond appropriately and BE THERE - not react to my fears!" Our oldest son was put into a circumstance where he had to make a decision, and one of the things that we pray for him is to be a leader, not a follower. It is much easier to follow. We are so proud of him because he chose to lead in a scenario that developed after school with some friends. As he climbed into bed with us this morning and told us all that happened, we got to tell him how proud we were of him and the choice he made. The thing is - there will be many more choices for him to make. As you more experienced parents-of-teens know, there are a lot of things that he will be presented with that we won't ever know about. We all need God's grace. I specifically prayed that the Holy Spirit who LIVES IN HIM because he is a Christian would teach him, guide him and convict him. He was supposed to spend the night with a friend after youth group last night and my heart was just unsettled. I prayed, "Lord, you have done this before, if for some reason he isn't to stay there, please bring him home." Guess what!? He came home with Judah after youth group! He was probably wondering "why is my mom running to greet me at the door?" J But I knew that God heard my cry and answered my prayer. He just thought he didn’t feel good and needed to come home. J Hallelujah!
I wanted to give you just a TASTE of what I got for Mother's Day from my honey! He's a keeper! He spent all of Saturday, while I was speaking and singing at a women's retreat, to take photos of the kids and put it to music. He took about 200 photos and bought me 5 new frames so I could choose one of each child, and then one of them all together. I was amazed at how grown up my sons and daughter look. It is crazy! So this is to just give you a more vivid reminder of our need for your prayers. There is more than Michael and Heather at work here in Botswana. These years in Africa, God is using to develop our children into the young men and woman they will become – and we are grateful. I hope this email goes. Let me know. We love you all! Couldn’t be here without your support and prayers – and wouldn’t want to be. Thank you!
Blessings,
Heather, Michael and the Walker Crew
