Tuesday night, 8:30 pm in India!
i was wrong! final count on people attending the new church
dedication on Sunday was 680 -- after they officially counted
all the chairs used and the plates for the lunch. unbelievable!
i am totally shocked. it was a day beyond our wildest dreams.

today when sitting in the office of the #1 TV/Video Film Producer
for CBN in India, it dawned on me that we should
have had him film a documentary of the new church and the dedication
service. Aneesh Daniel and his wife Shanti are wonderful Christians and
becoming good friends of mine. To be in their home for a delicious Indian
meal and see several film clips of projects he's working on was an
unexpected treat.
yesterday morning we went to OM Publishing and Bookstore and met
with editorial director K.C.Joseph. He has sent Lauren's book to the
editorial department; and i was able to present 2 children's books by my
friend Dee Kamp and one out of print book by Sally Stuart to him for
consideration. He asked if we would return in September to speak at and
participate in the India Christian Media Conference -- similar to CBA.
yesterday noon God showed up as 153 prostitutes/sex workers attended our
luncheon/gospel message/HIV AIDS/ hope-filled service. Some are
Christians already but trapped in this lifestyle. All want to get out if
they knew how to support their children. we talked, we prayed, we cried
together. we prayed for hundreds. we searched for creative ideas of
businesses, child care, schooling, and other ways to help them get
legitimate jobs. to see them all searching for such Hope was quite
moving.
last night we went to a slum village an hour's drive away to dedicate
a new literacy school to be sponsored by the YMCA. we gave an
American culture program that encouraged learning to read -- with
puppets, books, and games. it was a real treat to hug and kiss on
both cheeks about 125 children and their parents. this, like so many
other events that have been added to our 17 DAYS IN INDIA, was totally unexpected.
the bug germ is going around again -- Carol, my friend from Seattle, who came last week, got it yesterday;
i came down sick last night with cold and sore throat.

just 3 more big days and we will be homeward bound, but there is still much to do.
Wednesday is the Pastor's and Evangelist wives retreat.
Thursday morning we will spend at St. John's Elementary School
playing with the children and telling Bible stories.
Thursday afternoon we will be at the orphanage.
Friday is last minute meetings with friends, packing up, shopping,
and heading for the airport at midnight.
thanks for the opportunity to be here. pray with us about expenses.
It may take more funds than we expected to pay all our motel, food, laundry,
and other bills, plus leave some needed funds here for the
various ministries we came to support.
but God is mulltiplying the loaves and fishes, giving us wisdom
and energy beyond anything we can imagine, and blessing our
socks off. we love india and love you for praying for us!
blessings, elaine colvin
