Hello friends and supporters of WIN INDIA.
thanks for your prayers
nothing has gone as we planned, but everything according to
God's plans and will. in only 2 days we are on sensory overload.
we had to RUN to make the 1/2 hour connection at Frankfurt Germany,
but we made it. Lauren was already on board and praying. empty
plane -- and really nice flight attendants -- so we were able to stretch
out and sleep some of the 7 hour flight to hyderabad.
we knew our suitcases would never make it -- so arrived with none
of my 5 bags. Lufthanasa gave us an overnight bag with necessities
and 4000 ruppees for the incovenience -- which almost paid for the cost
of the excess bags. and then they were delivered to our hotel room the
following day --so we did not have to handle them through the ordeal of
customs and paying duty, not hire a cab to bring them to hotel. and they
were locked with the plastic bands and never even opened or examined!!! isn't
God good! what a way to meet our every need.
my niece nicole is with me and we are having a great time. yesterday
we retrieved all of her belongings from the house where she was living
when she had the fire. she signed a lease for a wonderful second story
3-bedroom flat only a 15 minute walk from her work. we sent all of her
clothes to be laundered or dry-cleaned. Today we were able to buy her
a new refrigerator, washing machine, toaster oven, and other household
necessities for setting up her own house. that we did it all so easily and
quickly is amazing. the refrigerator and washing machine have already
been deliverated and set up at her new place. tomorrow an appliance
man will come and hook them all up. (oh yea, we did all this 4 people
in the back of one of the little pedi-cabs, that is a nightmare experience
in itself).
last night we had a cultural experience put on by the students at the
St.John's School for ragpickers. it was so fun seeing all the children
again. so many remember us and came for hugs and handshakes.
their dancing and costumes and singing were amazing -- we were
completely entertained.
then we learned that the mother of 2 of the most beautiful little girls
had been rushed to the hospital and not expected to live through
the night. Lauren and I went with Dhanraj (their pastor) and their
slum village neighbor man to the hospital to pray for her. Lauren is
an Assembly of God minister who never travels without her annointing
oil. well, i'll have to write about the wretched, mindboggling scene at
the hospital emergency room and surgery later. But Lauren is also
a nurse and her mind was completely blown away at the number of
used dirty needles in bed with our patient, Hephzibah, the blood-stained
and dirty sheets, the cat walking through the ward, and so much more
deplorable stuff. after praying for hephzibah and with her mother, more
than a dozen other patients (including hindu and muslim) came and
asked to be prayed for. we explained we were christians praying in the
name of jesus and was that ok with them -- all said yes, please. i was
especially drawn aside to pray for a beautiful young girl in labor for her
first baby. (we used dhanraj for interpretor of everything we said and
prayed).
hephzibah had lost so much blood that they needed more to take her
to surgery. there you must go and get the blood and pay for it and
bring it back to the hospital before they do surgery. even at that they
gave her much less than 50% chance to live. It took us going to 3
hospitals to find the blood and thank God I'd gone because I was the
only one with enough rupees to pay for it. it was about 11:30 pm by
the time we rushed it back to the hospital and she was already waiting
in the operating room.
on our way to leave we viewed a muslim woman that had just died being
wrapped in a blanket and wheeled out on a guerney to go to the morgue.
her family and friends of more than 12-15 were walking and wailing behind
her.
this afternoon we learned that God truly listend to our prayers, heard our
pleas and performed the miracle!!! Hephzibah came through the surgery,
is doing very well, and expected to go home in a couple days. we are
walking on air and estactic at what we have already seen God do!!!
pray for me!!! i came with part of a cold bug, i am evidently having an
allergic reaction to all the dirt, dust, smog, and i have almost no voice
at all. curious since i am to speak for 10 minutes at the anglican church
tomorrow about the WIN INDIA ministries, and then again tomorrow
afternoon at the leprosy church. but there are sure plenty of gifted speakers
and preachers on the WIN team that can cover for me.
amazing things are happening. internet cafe or phone calls are not
as convenient this year. but you can buy a reliance phone card for
india on the website and calls to india are only 7 cents a minute.
those who are dying to talk might want to check it out. i have a mobile
phone: 91-9393932423 with me all the time, although turned off at
night to recharge the battery.
i am so blessed to have your love, and prayer support. keep it coming.
